The following factors affect the rate of diffusion :

1.) Temperature

High temperature increases kinetic energy of the colliding molecules hence increasing the rate of diffusion.

2.) Density

Density means the amount of molecules per given volume. The higher the density the higher the rate of diffusion.

3.) The medium of diffusion

The amount of molecules in the medium of will either increase of decrease diffusion rate.

When the particles within the medium are large, the diffusion rate becomes slow.

4.) Concentration gradient

The greater the concentration gradient the higher the rate of diffusion.
