What are the factors affecting and influencing vegetation
Answers
Answer:
Vegetation refers to a plant community in a particular region which has grown naturally or with human aid. Diversity in vegetation caused by the following factors:
1.Relief feature (land feature):The nature of land affects the natural vegetation directly or indirectly . Mountains, plateaus and plains have different types of vegetation. The fertile plains are mostly used for agriculture. The rough terrains of the mountains and the plateaus are covered with different types of woodland and grassland.
2.Soil :Different types of soils support different types of vegetation. Thus, we find cactus and thorny bushes in the sandy soil of the desert. While wet, marshy, deltaic soils support mangroves, the hill slopes with some depth of soil support conical trees.
3.Climate (temperature):In the Himalayas, because of the decrease in temperature with height, vegetation change from tropical to sub tropical, temperature and alpine vegetation.
4.Photoperiod (sunlight):The duration of sunlight varies at different places due to differences in latitude, altitude, season, etc. Because of the longer duration of sunlight, trees grow faster in summer times.
5.Precipitation :Areas of heavy rainfall have dense vegetation as compared to other areas of less rainfall.
