Answer:

Force on the given conductor (and hence the displacement of the conductor) depends upon:

  • direction of current and
  • direction of magnetic field.

Experiments have shown that the magnitude of the force is highest (or the displacement of the rod is largest ) when the direction of current is it a right angle to the direction of the magnetic field.
