In todays age, main reason can be stated as below-

1.poverty.

2.sexuality.

3.On individual level,your past. (No one is going to hangout with a person who was convicted pedophile).

Earlier,ethnicity,religion and caste (only in India) also played as factor of social margilization/Exclusion.
