The main factor is poverty, illiteracy. Parents do not allow girl child to study they rather prefer to send male child and educate them but not female child. This in turn leads to dependence on males for their livelihood throughout their lives. A girl in her child hood is dependent on her father and brothers and after marriage on her husband and in her old age on her children. This attitude needs to be changed and this can be eradicated only with education. illiteracy and orthodox religious traditions are binding women in India and curbing her development.
