Growth of Composite Culture in India
Composite culture refers to amicable coexistence of various culture; it may also be called ‘cultural pluralism’. India is an epitome of composite cultures. No other country in the world has as much diversity of cultures, languages, castes, creeds, faiths, etc. as India has. People of all religions feel comfortable living here. People celebrate one another’s culture quite enthusiastically.
Factors Responsible For Growth of Composite Culture in India:
1.Invasions: Indian subcontinent was invaded first by Mughals, and then followed by the British. They ruled Indian people for many years. Conversion and proselytization of various Indians led to the formation of composite culture.
2.Rich native pluralistic culture: Ancient Indian culture promulgated and taught universalism. Indian culture never believed in accepting the new people and their ways of life. This also led to the formation of composite culture.
3. Immigration of certain people: With the passage of time, foreign communities such as Jews, Parsis, Muslims from Bangla Desh, Buddhists from Tibet, Rohingyas from Myanmar, etc. settled comfortably in India. The people of India allowed them to blend in the native, indigenous culture.
These were some of the factors that led to growth of composite culture in India.
