Water Pollution :
water is one of the most widely disturbed and abundant substance found in the nature it covers about three fourth of the Earth's surface for big cities rivers lakes and ponds are main source of water in the last few decades the quality of the water in these water bodies are destroyed and become unfit for the human concumption.
- The contamination of water with harmful and unwanted substances like domestic sewage, toxic industrial waste, chemical pesticides and fertilizers which cause harmful effect on both living organism and non living objects called Water pollution.
Factors responsible for water Pollution :
1. Industrial sewage :
- Industries of paper, textile, leather, paint produce wastes containing highly toxic substances like lead Mercury or their compounds. The discharge of untreated industrial sewage directly into the water bodies is one of the main cause of water pollution.
2. Domestic Sewage :
- Liquid waste from kitchens and toilets are discharged into the river through sewer system causing water pollution.
3. Human Activities :
- Bathing of human being or animal in or near lakes rivers effect or pollute the water bodies .
4. Agricultural waste :
- In modern agriculture large quantities of pesticides and fertilizers are used. excess of this inorganic chemicals find a way to water bodies result in water pollution even ground water is polluted due to excess use of pesticides and weedicides.
5. Oil spills :
- Oil spills from use tankers is one of the major cause of water pollution with effects the marine plant and animals.
