Factors which affect the climate of a place are:

  • Latitude: The sun rays fall directly on the equator, so the climate is usually hot. On the other hand, as we move towards the poles, the sun rays disperse and the temperature decreases. This is because of the earth's curved surface.
  • Wind: Suppose winds are blown from a hot area, the temperature rises. If winds have been blown from cold areas, the temperature decreases. Eg: Winds in deserts etc.
  • Altitude: Temperature decreases as we go higher. This happens due to the air density. Eg: Snow caps on mountains etc.
  • Vegetation of the area: The trees and plants in a region, help in changing of the climate because of the water vapour released. Eg: forests, crop fields etc.
  • Ocean Currents : They transmit heat from land to sea or vice-versa.
