What are the factors which affects the quality of the food grains in the storage? How e can prevent them?

⏩ Factors responsible for loss of grains, during storage and production are:
(a) Biotic factors like rodents, pests, insects, etc.
(b) Abiotic factors like temperature, humidity, moisture, etc. Combination of both biotic and abiotic factors causes :
(i) infestation of insects
(ii) weight loss
(iii) poor germination ability
(iv) degradation in quality
(v) discolouration
(vi) poor market price


⏩ The storage room should be dry and moisture free. It should be packed with no windows as birds cannot harm the grains. If it is stored in a container for householder use,the container should be dry and you can put some turmeric and neem leaves to avoid bacteria.
