Here is your answer...:-)
Indian constituion is already effective! We haven't changed our constituion all together though we did 100+ amendments ( which didn't affect the basic ideals of Constitution )
We didn't have any military rule due to Constitutional machinery failure as happened in Pakistan!
Our neighbors who got independence at the same time we got like Burma, srilanka had many problems including ethinic problem and internal power struggles. We didn't have any such much problem thanks to our constituional values.
