Mountains are of three types:

They are

1.Greater Himalayas

2.Lesser Himalayas

3.Shivalik.

1.the greater Himalayas from west to east direction of an distance of 2400 km their width extends from 500 kilometres in the West regions to 200 km in Central and eastern regions.these are also known as himadri their elevation range is above 6100 metres above mean sea level.

2.these life below greater Himalayas their ranges from 3700 to 4500 mts.The most famous pir panjal and Mahabharat ranges are found in this region. Most of these are evergreen. The famous valley of Kashmir, the Kangra in the famous valley of Himachal Pradesh Kulu are located here.

there are many famous hill stations like Shimla, Mussoorie, Nainital, Ranikhet etc and covered by evergreen forests.

3. Shivalik ranges from 900 to 1100 metres. Cover a width over 10 to 50 kilometres. You can mostly find dunes. Dunes are the valleys which lie between lesser Himalayas and Shivalik. Examples are patli dun,kotlidun, etc.
