The female reproductive organs are a pair of ovaries, oviducts (fallopian
tubes) and the uterus. The ovary produces female gametes called ova or eggs. In
human beings, a single matured egg is released into the oviduct by one of the
ovaries every month. The oviduct collects the ovum and passes it to the hollow
muscular structure called uterus. The development of a baby takes place here. The
lower side of the uterus is called cervix. A narrow muscular passage called vagina
connects the outside with uterus.
