A mouse is versatile for a lot of things but if you are into flight sims or space sims then a joystick makes sense. It’s all about ergonomics. Joysticks come in two major types. The inexpensive digital on/off joystick and the more expensive analog joystick. A digital joystick is no improvement from a mouse and keyboard. An analog joystick can have a variable slope of input where you can program sensitivity.
