Guard cells are cells surrounding each stoma. They help to regulate the rate of transpiration by opening and closing the stomata..

Hello there!

__________

• guard cells are two bean shaped cells which guard the opening and closing of stomatal pores.

• when there is need of water for stomatal pores these become turgid and the stomatal pore gets opened to abaorb water.

• when water is not requires these become flaccid and thus prevent the absorbing of water by stomatal pores.
