It has two main functions.--

Exothermic-By this they produces many enzymes like trypsinogen, carboxydases, lipases, nucleases etc. which helps us in digestion.

Endothermic.-By this point of view, they produces Hormones like Glucagon & Insulin which helps in maintaining the blood glucose level by their alternating effects.

produces glucagon hormone which convert glycogen un glucose ..
