The function of the digestive system is digestion and absorption. Digestion is the breakdown of food into small molecules, which are then absorbed into the body. The digestive system is divided into two major parts: The digestive tract (alimentary canal) is a continuous tube with two openings: the mouth and the anus.

1).mouth=our digestion get atleast one fourth complete in the mouth by the help of salivary enzymes and our teeth perform a cutting and grinding of food.
2).the pharynx and oesophagus=there are two paths in pharynx where food bolus can take,first the wrong path which is down the with windpipe into the lungs and the second is the right path from oesophagi to stoamch.our food which is chewed by our mouth and teeth is undergo to the oesophagus with the process of relaxation and contraction. once the food approaches the stomach a particular valve relaxes and let the food pass into the stomach.
3).the stomach and the intestine=the attach muscles further mix the food .at the end of this process ,the food u placed in your mouth has been transformed to a thick creamy fluid called chyme. now this chyme enters into small intestine. now after half digestion in intestine this food enters into large intestine or colon.
