What are the functions of following:
* chorion
*Amnion
* allantois
* yolk sac
Answers
the given are the protective layers of the zygote in females
chorion : outermost membrane surrounding an embryo of a reptile, bird, or mammal. In mammals it contributes to the formation of the placenta.
Amnion : it produces a fluid called amniotic fluid which helps the baby from shocks
allantois : it gives rise to umblical cord which is a nutrient transporter and waste materials of baby to mom
yolk sac : its just another layer and not useful much the first site of blood formation is the yolk sac
1) The function of the chorion is to contribute to the development of the placenta in placental mammals. The main function of the placenta is to move oxygenated blood into the bloodstream of the developing baby and in turn, move carbon dioxide out.
2) The amnion is a membrane that closely covers the embryo when first formed. It fills with the amniotic fluid which causes the amnion to expand and become the amniotic sac which serves to provide a protective environment for the developing embryo or fetus.
3) The allantois (plural allantoides or allantoises) is a hollow sac-like structure filled with clear fluid that forms part of a developing amniote's conceptus (which consists of all embryonic and extra-embryonic tissues). It helps the embryo exchange gases and handle liquid waste.
4) The yolk sac is a membranous sac attached to an embryo, formed by cells of the hypoblast adjacent to the embryonic disk. This is alternatively called the umbilical vesicle by the Terminologia Embryologica (TE), though yolk sac is far more widely used.
