 \mathbb \red{MESOVARIUM}

The mesovarium is the portion of the broad ligament of the uterus that suspends the ovaries.

 \mathbb \red{FUNCTION }

The main function of mesovarium is :

  • The ovaries are the female gonads and they lie in a shallow fossa on the lateral walls of the pelvis. Each is attached to the upper part of the uterus by the ovarian ligament and to the back of the broad ligament by a broad band of tissue, the mesovarium. It is a peritoneal covering of ovary. Blood vessels and nerves pass to the ovary through the mesovarium.

  • It serves as a mesentery for the uterus, ovaries, and the uterine tubes.

  • It helps in maintaining the uterus in its position, but it is not a major contributing factor.
