Functions of nucleus:

  • It regulates cell functions,
  • If it is removed the cell dies,
  • Contains chromosomes which bears genes that control hereditary characters,
  • It is the largest cell organelle,
  • It contains network of thread like structures called chromatin fibres which contain DNA.

Hope that helps you

What is Nucleus ?

In cell biology, the nucleus is an organelle found in eukaryotic cells or it is a small, round and membrane bound structure found in cell.It contains the majority of the cell's genetic material.

Functions of Nucleus

  • Nucleus control gene expression and mediate the replication of DNA during the cell cycle.

  • It contains all the genetic information in its chromatin.

  • They form ribosomes on its nucleolus.

  • It controls cell's growth and reproduction because it contains cell's hereditary information.

  • It controls all the cell's activity such as growth, intermediary metabolism, protein synthesis, and reproduction (cell division).
