Endoplasmic Reticulum with ribosomes is called Rough Endoplasmic reticulum.It participates in protein synthesis.
Endoplasmic Reticulum without ribosomes is called Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum.It participates in glycogen and lipid metabolism ,glycogenolysis ,synthesis of steroid hormones.
