Exchange of the gases is the primary and main function of stomata. The opening and closing of stomata is controlled by specialised cells called guard cells.

Stomata helps the plants to take carbon dioxide in and leave oxygen out as a waste product.

normally the function of stomata is to exchange the gases (respiration ) and also in removing excess of water through these pores
