Functions of the Supreme Court-The Supreme Court of India is the highest court of appeal in India. It has very specific functions to perform.

◾Fundamental Rights cases.

(b) Appellate Jurisdiction-Under the Appellate Jurisdiction, an appeal can be made in the  Supreme court regarding any judgment of a high court, if it is certified by the High Court.

The Supreme court may grant a Special Leave of appeal in case a High Court refuses to give such certificate.

(c) Consultative Jurisdiction-In any case of the public importance, the President of India may seek the opinion of the Supreme Court. But in this case, Supreme Court is not bound by any obligation to express its opinion; nor any Opinion expressed by the Supreme Court is binding on the President.
