The functions of the constitution in any country are:

1. Creating a national government having different branches such as legislative, executive as well as judicial.

2. Division of power between the central and state governments.

3. Directing how a government is to be constituted and allocation of powers in a country.

4. Provides a rule book for all the citizens to ensure coordination amongst all the residents.

5. Laying out the fundamental principles based on which a state is to be governed.

6. Helping the government implement the ideas of liberty, justice and fraternity.

7.  Posing restrictions of the government so that it does not trespass the basic fundamental rights of the citizens.
