There are 6 principles that Mahatma Gandhi followed: Truth: learning from your own mistakes and conducting experiments on yourself. Nonviolence: nonviolent resistance connected in a way to religion.

The 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi starts today and gives us an opportunity to recall the four fundamental principles that Mahatma Gandhi taught: Truth (satya), non-violence (ahimsa), welfare of all (sarvodaya) and peaceful protest (satyagraha)

Gandhian Principles

  1. To promote agricultural and animal husbandry; improving breeds of cattle and preventing cow slaughter.
  2. To promote cottage industries.
  3. To establish village panchayats.
  4. To raise the level of nutrition and the standard of living of its people; improvement of public health.
  5. Prohibition of the consumption except for medical purposes of intoxicating drinks and of drugs injurious to health.
  6. Environment protection including that of forests and wildlife.
  7. To take steps to separate the Judiciary from the Executive.
