when HCl reacts with Zn it releases hydrogen gas

it can be tested by igniting the gas bubbles if it burns with pop sound then the gas is hydrogen

when HCl reacts with ZnCO3 it gives carbon dioxide and hydrogen gases

carbon dioxide gas can be tested by passing it through lime water if it turns milky then the gas is CO2
