The microorganisms which are useful to human beings in one way or other , are regarded as good or useful microorganisms.
Some of the uses of microorganisms are as follows-
1. Lactic acid bacteria (from the genus Lactobacillus) are essential for making yoghurt and cheese.
2. Molds are used in the fermentation of certain cheeses.
3. penicillin (produced by the fungus Penicillium notatum) kills bacteria.
4. Certain soil bacteria degrade organic compounds for energy, and without these, there would be no soil on earth in which to grow plants.
5. Bacteria are important decomposers releasing nutrients back into the soil.
6. Cyanobacteria helps in Nitrogen fixation.
