the process of trapping of radiation by the earth s atmosphere is called green house effect. by this process the warming of earth take places.without ds process life would not have been possiblr on earth .but now it threatens life. Co2 ,methane nitrous oxide and water vapours are called greenhouse gases because they all contribute towards this effects

The sun releases many radiations. the UV radiation (ultraviolet) and the IR radiation (infra red are some of those). ther Uv rays entering the earth easily reflect back into outer space but the weaker IR radiations get trapped inside the earth due to the presence of the ozone layer. this heats up the earth and is called green house effect.
The excessive CO2 emissions from the cars and industries also causes greenhouse effect as the ozone layer does not let any CO2 escape either.
Greenhouse effect is essential as without this phenomenon the earth would be too cold to live in. it is the main reason why there is life on the planet earth.
However, it also causes global warming.
