Rice is the staple food crop of a majority of the people of India.

(a) Growing conditions required for rice :

(i) High temperature (above 25°C). It is a Kharif crop.

 (ii) High humidity with annual rainfall above 100 cm.

(b) Main growing regions : Northern plains, deltaic plains, river valleys.

2. It best grows in clay or clay loam soil.

3.temperature required is above 25 degree celsius.

4. Annual rainfall above 100 cm with high humidity.
