Gurjars;— a farming and trading community — are classified by the government as an "Other Backward Class". They are part of the caste system that does not face as much exclusion or discrimination in Indian society.

Schedule tribe status, is the right answer.

Gurjars were a farming and trading population. They were allotted the Other Backward Class, status by the government of India. The state provided them with OBC status because their caste did not face much discrimination and exclusion in Indian society. But the Gurjar community felt that they had been educationally and economically left underdeveloped. Hence, the leaders of the Gurjar caste were asking the government to provide them with the status of the scheduled tribe, instead of their prevailing status of Other Backward Class.
