i. In the first century BC, Allahabad had sophisticated water harvesting system channelling the flood waters of the river Ganga.

ii. During the time of Chandragupta Maurya, dams, lakes and irrigation systems were extensively built.

iii. Sophisticated irrigation works has been found in Kalinga in Odisha, Nagarjuna konda in Andhra Pradesh, Bennur in Karnataka and Kolhapur in Maharashtra.
