Ill Effects of irrigation: Excess irrigation and unscientific use of irrigation water may give rise to the following ill-effects: Breeding places for mosquitoes: Due to excess application of water, and due to leakage of water, ponds and depressions get filled up with water and create breeding places for mosquitoes

ill effects of irrigation are as follows
1. over irrigation can leads to water shortage problem .
2. crop pattern has changed totally . for eg we can grow south indian plan in north india on tip of irrigation which has loss the treadation of specific area .
3. over irrigation leads the problem of degradation of land .
4. use of high yeld seeds has increase which has increase the use of chemical fertilizers .
5. irrigation in high rates has leads the problem of soil erosin . wich increase the problem use of chemical fertiliser
6. increase in use of fertilizers have polluted the groundwater .
