A false sense of power stems from corruption. This permits those who are corrupt to assume they can do more, and become even more corrupt-if left to their own devices.
Power corrupts absolutely and, left unchecked, leads to more corruption. It numbs ones sense of responsibility, and empathy for those who are the victim of the corruption. It rarely ends without external intervention. Corruption tends to blind the person from their own corruption and they justify it as necessary.
