We know that all plants are living organisms. They behave according to their environment inorder to adapt to it and make their survival chances stronger. For this plants follow common mechanisms such as osmosis, water and nutrient absorption, respiration, photosynthesis, food storage etc., All these activities might be common but vary in their limits for example C4 plants are more efficient than C3 plants. Thus, when we study plant physiology we can observe the activities of plants with relation to their external environmental conditions such as heat, drought, humidity, sunlight etc., After studying this relationship we can well predict- How a plant will behave under different environmental conditions. Will transpiration occur more in summers? Is photosynthesis effected by light? All such questions are answered under the science of plant physiology. After knowing the answers to these questions we can use this knowledge to induce behavioural changes in plants which we can do through genetics and plant breeding techniques. Altering the plant's environment can also change its response accordingly. For example increasing the light hours, providing irrigation, reducing heat can change photosynthesis rate, transpiration rate and evapo-transpiration respectively. All in all we can say that plant physiology is an exceptional tool for aiding plant scientists and plant breeders to make the plants perform in the most efficient manner.
