Thermal decomposition is used for the production of calcium oxide (quick lime ) from calcium carbonate which is a major constituent of cement.
In the metal industry the decomposition reaction is used in the process of extraction of metals from their ores.
Several types of decomposition reactions are used in the metal industries like :
● Thermal decomposition : This method of decomposition is used in the production of calcium oxide from calcium carbonate which is a major constituent of cement.
● Electrolytic decomposition : This method is used for the extraction of metals. This can be done by two different ways :
First, as in the case of extraction of sodium which is extracted from sodium chloride from its molten state.
Second, is the method of extraction from crushed ores as in the case of Aluminium extraction from its ore bauxite.
