Importance of The Universal Law of Gravitation

It binds us to the earth. It is responsible for the motion of the moon around the earth. It is responsible for the motion of planets around the Sun. Gravitational force of moon causes tides in seas on earth.

Importance of Universal Law of Gravitation :

  • It holds us to the surface of Earth.
  • It initiates the movement of Moon around the Earth.
  • It is due to the universal law of gravitation, that all the planets are able to rotate and revolve ( around the sun ) in their respective axes.
  • The movement and regular cycle of tides is due to the gravitational force of the Moon.

More about Universal Law of Gravitation :

  • The universal law of gravitation was provided by Issac Newton.
  • The value of g ( gravitational constant ) is not dependent on the respective masses of the objects or the distance between the two objects.
  • The gravitational force acting upon the two objects gets one-fourth, if the distance between them gets doubled.
  • The various bodies on Earth attracts each other with a curtain force but due to negligible gravitational force of attraction between them, there is no motion which can be observed in the two bodies.
