HII MATE THIS IS YOUR ANSWER
Deterioration of library materials caused by internal/ external causes like temperature and humidity extremes, light, air born pollutant, molds and pests is usually gradual and cumulative and is always irreversible.
Some of the library materials deteriorate more quickly than others because they are made from different materials that are inherently unstable such as acidic paper.
Disasters such as floods, fires, building problems such as leaking roofs, may cause immediate deterioration. The materials in which the library archive collection are made of namely paper, parchment, palm leaves, birch bark leather and adhesive use of bookbinding also cause deterioration of library materials.
Mans negligence such as accumulation of dust and dirt from poor or careless housekeeping practices, poor ventilation, introduction of foodstuff in to storage and exhibit areas favors the growth of proliferation of insects.
