Frog and nightingale  'your song must be our own'

The frog at first criticised the nightingale's song telling that she lacked required expertise and she ought to take lessons from talented musicians like the frog himself. However it was the frog himself who declared to the Nightingale at the end that her song should be her own creation. This is the element of irony.

Julius Caesar - Defeat of Pompey

The biggest irony is that in the starting of the lesson we get to know that caesar has defeated Pompey and his sons but at the end when the conspirators killed Julius (as remarked by Antony) he was killed beneath the statue of Pompey.

Dear departed  -  Death of Grandpa

Grandfather, the departed in this play, was not dear to his daughters and son-in-laws. Though they did not anxiously wait for his death, they actually did not regret even his sudden passing away.

Mrs. Packletide's tiger  -  Fame goes in vain

The irony in the lesson, Mrs. Packletide’s Tiger is this that Mrs. Packletide had hoped shooting of tiger would help her outsmart Loona Bimberton. She felt her jealousy would be satisfied. However, the shooting of tiger proved quite a source of stress, tension, worry, and loss to her. She not only had to pay a very heavy amount to pacify Mrs. Mebbin, but also had to face the fears of her secret revealed to Loona Bimberton.

Shady plot - There are n-no of irony in the story - Ghost appearance

1. John's ghost stories are very popular among the readers despite of the fact that he does not write ghost stories out of choice. 2. John does not get frightened by the appearance of ghost. 3. Generally ghost are considered to be the ones causing destruction but in the story the bring no harm.

Rime of Ancient Mariner  - Water

"Water Water Everywhere
nor a drop to drink"

That is the ship was surrounded by water from all sides and the mariners were very thirst but they couldn't drink even a single drop of water.

:) Hope this Helps !!!
