Question

what are the laws according to Dalton's atomic theory ?

Answer

According to Dalton's atomic theory , all of the matters whether an element or a compound or a mixture is composed of small particles called atom .

The theory stated by Dalton are ;

  • all matter is made of a very tiny particles called atom which participate in chemical reaction .
  • Atoms indivisible particle which cannot be created or destroyed in a chemical reaction .
  • Atom of a given element are identical in mass and chemical properties .
  • Atom of different element have different masses and chemical properties .
  • Atoms combine in the ratio of small whole number to form compound .
  • The relative number and kinds of atom are constant in a given compound .

Explanation:

Dalton based his theory on two laws: the law of conservation of mass and the law of constant composition. The law of conservation of mass says that matter is not created or destroyed in a closed system. ... The law of constant composition says that a pure compound will always have the same proportion of the same elements.
