1.. refraction is due to change in the speed of light as it enters from one transparent medium to another..

2.. the incident ray , the refracted ray and the normal to the interface of two transparent media at the point of incidence , all lie in the same plane...

\textbf{Laws of Refraction :}

1) The incident ray, refracted ray and the normal; at the point of incidence all lie in the small plane.

2) The ratio of sine of angle of incidence with sine of angle of refraction is always equal to relative refractive index of medium 2 with respect to medium 1.

i.e.

μ1 sin i = μ2 sin r

OR

sin i ÷ sin r = μ2 ÷ μ1

μ1 = medium in which incident ray.

μ2 = medium in which refracted ray.
