Limitations of Mendeleev‘s classification:

  • Position of isotopes
  • Position of hydrogen
  • Anomalous pair of nickel and cobalt
  • Elements did not show regular gradation by one, thus missing elements between 2 other elements could not be predicted.

Hope this helps:)

⭕ Limitations of Mendeleev Classification :-

⭕ He could not assign a correct position to Hydrogen. As Hydrogen resembles both alkali metal and Halogen group in properties. So it should be placed in both the groups.Mendeleev couldn't explain this.✔️✔️

⭕The atomic masses of the elements did not increased in regular manner from one element to another.Elements with greater atomic mass came first and elements with less atomic mass came later on.This could not be explained by Mendeleev.❤️

⭕ When elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic masses, then isotopes should be given different places. However, In Mendeleev periodic table, Isotopes were placed at the same place in same group.✔️✔️
