the limitation of Rutherford model of an atom was

Rutherford model said that electrons revolve around Preston's but this collided with the fact that if electron keeps on revolving then soon will loose it's energy ,resulting in dieing of an atom that was not possible .

Hi there,

Limitation of the Rutherford model of an atom :

1. Rutherford was not able to explain the stability of an Atom.

2. If the energy lost by the electrons is Continuous, the discovered spectra should be Continuous. But Practically, the loss of Energy by the Electrons are not continuous.

3. It says nothing concerning the Electronic Structure of the associated Atom.

4. Rutherford failed to explain the distribution of electrons around the Nucleus in an atom.

Hope it helped.
