It could not explain the stability of an atom, i.e how a positive charge in the atom holds the negatively charged electrons. It could not explain the position of nucleus in an atom.

1.Stability of the atom: Maxwell's electromagnetic theory disproved Rutherford's model of atom. According to Maxwell any charged body under acceleration radiates energy. Electron is also an accelerated charged particle, therefore it loses energy continuously. As a result the moving election come closer to the nucleus and finally will collapse the nucleus. But it doesn't happens
2.Electronic structure of Atoms: He doesn't acount for the distribution of the election around the nucleus and the what are the energies of the election.
