what are the limitations of the evidences of the past

1.The records as evidences in the form of fossils ,tools ,bones etc have undergone a change with the time and hence we can predict about a particular thing/place and not be 100% accurate about the information. 2.There are also less direct evidences about the past which are not sufficient for the knowing reach and every thing as most of them are weathered away with the course of time
