The xylem parenchyma is responsible for storing the prepared food and assists in the conduction of water.Xylem fibres are supportive infunction. Phloem- It consists of four of elements: sieve tubes, companion cells, phloem fibres and the phloem parenchyma.

IT IS ALSO A COMPLEX PERMANENT TISSUE, running almost parallel with xylem strands . it is also made up of 4 types of cells which are sieve tubes , companion cells , phloem parenchyma and phloem fibres .

ONLY PHLOEM FIBRES ARE DEAD CELLS , OTHER PHLOEM CELLS ARE LIVING. OUT OF THESE FOUR ELEMENTS, SIEVE TUBE ELEMENTS ARE THE MOST ABUNDANT .

Many cells join end to end to form long tubes . but Unlike the xylem vessels, the end of cells are not completely broken, they have small holes in them. The sieve plates Allow the passage of food through these tiny holes. These cells are thus called sieve cells. The sieve cells form long tubes. These do not have Lignin deposition in the cell wall. A companion cell is present beside each sieve cell.
The companion cells control the function of sieve cells..................
