India has uneven distribution of pooulation due to several factors like-
1. low birth rates and high death rates of areas.
2. Topography, rugged terrain and unfavourable climatic conditions are primarily responsible for sparse population in states like Rajasthan.
3. Hilly, dissected and rocky nature of the terrain, moderate to low rainfall, shallow and less fertile soil are responsible for lesser population.
