Most of the jute industries are located in the eastern part of India i.e. hooghly basin of West Bengal. This is because-
1. West Bengal is the largest producer of jute. Therefore it is easy to gather raw material.
2. The water required for washing and cleaning goods is also available through ganga and its distributaries.
3. Cheap labour force is available from nearby states of Jharkhand and Chattisgarh.
4. Coal requirement is satisfied by Orissa.
5. Kolkata (located nearby) helps in providing a domestic and international market.
