they dont have leaves, because of which they cut down on transpiration and save water

they have xerotypic vegetation

their roots penetrate deep inside to absorb any water available

THORN FORESTS

  • In regions with less than 70 cm of rainfall the natural vegetation consists of tho-rny trees and bushes.
  • This type of vegetation is found in the North Western part of the country, including semi arid areas of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, palms, and cacti are the main plant species.
  • These forests give way to thorn forest and scrubs in arid areas.
  • In this forest the common animals are rat, mice, rabbits, Fox, wolf, lion ,horse and camels.
