Explanation:

The main Characteristics of tropical evergreen forests are:

i) The trees in this forest do not shed their leaves all together in any season and are therefore known as evergreen forests. These forests are also called Tropical rainforest.

ii) The trees are found in the Western slopes of the Western Ghats covering the states of Western parts of Maharashtra,  Karnataka and Kerala. They also occur in The Hills of North East India as well as West Bengal , Orissa and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Due to the presence of moisture tree growth is very fast.

iii) These forests are found in areas where annual rainfall is more than 200 cms and the mean temperature is more than 20degreeC.

iv) The trees reaches a  height of 60 m or more to catch sunshine. The long and broad leaves form a covering at the top known as the canopy. Rain drip slowly from this canopy causing little damage to soil.

v) These forests support a large number of plant species.

e.g Ebony , mahogany, coconut, bamboo, shisam, ferns and Rosewood are typical trees of these forests.
