- These thick forests occur in the regions near the equator and close to the tropics.
- These regions are hot and recieve heavy rainfall throughout the year.
- As there is no dry season ,these trees do not shed their leaves altogether.
- This is why they are called evergreen forests.

The main features of tropical evergreen forests are :-
- High animal and vegetal biodiversity
- Evergreen trees
- Sparse Undergrowth interspersed with clearings
- Scarce present of Litters(organic matter settling on the ground)
- Presence of ‘Stranglers' ,creepers
- Presence of “buttresses"( i.e. large winged ribs at the base of a trunks) and spindly roots in trees living in often flooded areas.
