Some of the important functions of a Village Panchayat are: a) Construction, repair and maintenance of all village roads. b) Extension of village sites and the regulation of buildings. c) Lighting of public roads and public places in built-up areas.

Even Dr BR Ambedkar had agreed to the idea of linguistic division. In 1952, Potti Sreeramulu went on a hunger strike and unexpectedly died. The demand for a separate Andhra state became very strong and inevitable. Andhra Pradesh was formed in 1953 and it paved the way for the rest of the linguistic states in India.

FEDERALISM is practiced in India by, The creation of Linguistic States was the first and a major test for democratic politics in our country. In 1947, the boundaries of several old States were changed in order to create new States. This was done to ensure that people who spoke the same language lived in the same State.
